Rich dark purple in colour, this is a wine of deeply-rooted structure and classical dimensions. The warm, unbridled intensity of Madelines from warm years are succeeded in 2017 by restraint and cool-headed Old World noblesse. The bouquet combines notes of blue-blooded Bordelais flavours and the spicy lushness of Niagara. The palate is a study of symmetry, density of fruit and refined, round tannins - all holding together with seamless precision. It's a wine that takes you on a world-wide journey of Cab Franc references, yet speaks a language uniquely its own.
2017 Cuvée Madeline was made with 100% Cabernet Franc from our 19th
street vineyard. The fruit was harvested on November 2nd, 3rd and 28th.
Fermentation (100% whole cluster) by indigenous yeast took place in big
oak vats (3000 litres). The wine proceeded with its élevage in the same
vessels and on its lees for a total of 17 months. It was transferred into
concrete for an additional 3 months of aging before bottling for a total of
20 months of aging.
2017 Cabernet Franc Cuvée Madeline was bottled un-fined and unfiltered
